Natalie Bears #0202

Natalie Bears, Dipl.Ac., R.Ac.

Born and raised in beautiful Prince Edward Island, Natalie was always drawn to natural health and wellness. Having had the advantage of parents that believed in the human body’s natural abilities to heal she grew up with the understanding and appreciation of taking care of one’s self. Thus, within her family the importance of balance with a healthy diet and active lifestyle was encouraged. After completing high school Natalie moved away to work on her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Psychology. It was at that point that she took clearly defined steps in being an active participant in her own health and wellbeing. Through extracurricular study in disciplines such as yoga, Qi Gong, meditation and natural and organic foods her passion for the healing arts only grew stronger.

After years of reading many books in a variety of disciplines in alternative health care and the power of creative thought, In 1997 with a young family and a strong desire to work in the field of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Natalie went forward to graduate from a 3-year full-time acupuncture program at Grant McEwen University ( www.macewan.ca/web/hcs/acupuncture/home/index.cfm) in Edmonton, Alberta.

With the knowledge, training and respect that her studies had given her to begin her practice, In 2001 Natalie and her family moved back to Prince Edward Island and she opened up a private clinic in the quaint village of Cardigan. Through word of mouth, her practice has grown on the Island and she now has patients travel from all areas of the Island as well as the mainland to receive traditional acupuncture treatment.

In her Kings County office, she practices mainly Traditional Chinese Acupuncture but also draws from the many other styles of Acupuncture including the Japanese style Shonishin (Paediatric needle less acupuncture) and Acutonics (Using tuning forks) . Having three children, Natalie has personally witnessed the efficacy and rewards of Acupuncture, Shonishin and Acutonics in the treatment of childhood ailments and has gained much knowledge and experience in Paediatric Acupuncture. In addition, Natalie also incorporates the systems of Auriculotherapy and Korean hand acupuncture. She works with many patients with varying health challenges; from patients suffering with Arthritis, Chronic neck pain, headaches and/or migraines, menopause, and respiratory conditions such as asthma and sinusitis to assisting patients with more serious conditions and their symptoms like IBS, MS and Cancer to name only a few. With the perspective and intent of not only treating the symptoms (the branch) but also treating the causes (the root) of the “dis-ease” or disharmony, Natalie feels that patients have the best of both worlds with Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture. Her tools and techniques include insertion needles, direct and indirect moxabustion, cupping, gua sha, capillary release, and acutonics. Natalie strongly believes that diet plays an important role in health and wellness and therefore always devotes detailed attention to that aspect of her patient’s health journey. She works closely with her clients and their wishes in all aspects of their health often offering dietary and herbal recommendation and therapy. Her passion for this system of medicine and her commitment to improving health and wellness for those that seek her services is always present.

In addition to her formal comprehensive training in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Natalie is also certified in Advanced Facial Rejuvenation which uses both the techniques of needles as well as tuning forks . Facial Rejuvenation also known as Cosmetic Acupuncture is a unique style of treatment that helps to revitalize and brighten the complexion. It is highly effective in eliminating fine lines, reducing wrinkles, lifting tired sagging skin, and brightening the face with a healthy glow. Most significantly though acupuncture facial rejuvenation revitalizes the entire body naturally from the inside out. And it does so without the use of harsh chemicals or surgery. Additionally Natalie has trained in German Auricular Medicine, Aromatherapy, Acutonics, Qi Gong, Chinese herbology and most recently has embarked in the study of macrobiotic healing.

Having studied life coaching work through the Demartini programs, and being a firm believer in the power of the mind, Natalie encourages her patients in all areas in their path to improved health and wellbeing.
